DCWV March stack-a-holic challenge (layout 69)

since I usually mix and match paper collections I love DCWV's stack-a-holic challenge because it challenges me to only stick to one stack to complete the layout.

Here is this month's sketch (which can be found: http://www.dcwvinc.blogspot.ca/2013/03/march-stack-holic-template-challenge.html):

Here is my take:

I used DCWV glam rhinestone stack (such a beautiful stack). Hope you play along this month. Thank you for looking and for the love :)

Tracy Weinzapfel Studios - March 2013 Creative Dare (layout 68)

Once again I dared myself to get outside of my normal straight/clean lines style of scrapbooking and think out side the box. For March's Creative Dare was to create something that had buttons and a song (either title and/or lyrics) that means the most to me.

My son, Kyle, who is now 16.5 months, is now a happy motoring toddler. However, his entry into this world was very scary as he was born at 29 weeks and weighed only 3lbs 10.5oz. He was so small that my husband only needed one hand to hold him. We (I say we because I was there for 12 hours a day and then the last three weeks lived at the hospital so i could be there around the clock to breastfeed) spent a total of 7 weeks in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Kyle is my absolute everything and the majority of my scrapbook inspiration comes from him (along with 99.9% of the photos i take).

For this challenge I went with Madonna's "Lucky Star" this is for a couple of reasons. The first is during the time we were in the NICU, I prayed, picked up pennies, threw pennies in fountains, and wished upon a star that Kyle would get bigger and stronger and would be able to come home sooner, rather than later. The second because I thank my lucky stars every day that Kyle is healthy (which is VERY unusual for a child who was born so early).

I used white crayon and distressed paint to create the background. Thank you for stopping by and for the love. Hope you play along this month: http://tracywburgos.typepad.com/treasure_the_momentlove_l/2013/03/march-creative-dare-1.html

Create to Live March Challenge (layout 67)

I have come to LOVE Susan K Weckesser's challenges because it forces me out of my comfort zone as my style is usually simple and clean lines. This month we were to take the following and interpret it:

marchchallenge

Here is my take:

I love the way this turned out. I decided to create the flowers using cupcake holders, the middle using buttons and the stems with paint. I also added 3D effect with adding flowers to the garden at the bottom of the page as well as texture adding bling. I also added texture by adding ribbon to each of the eggs.

I agree that we should celebrate every day (which let's face it it is getting much easier to do since spring has started and the multiple feet of snow is melting :) I celebrate every day with my son. I love watching the world as he sees it. Everything is so wonderful and amazing for him and it makes me smile each and every day.

Hope you come play this month: http://mysweetearth.blogspot.ca/2013/03/create-to-live-march-challenge.html

Thank you for the love and have a wonderful day :)

Canadian Scrapbooker February Sketch Challenge (layout 66)

okay so i'm a little late posting (since this was a February sketch) and it was completed in February (the 23rd to be exact); however, have been unable to post or anything for that matter as i have had a wicked headache which has left me unable to do anything except care for my son.

Canadian Scrapbooker is my absolute favorite scrapbooking magazine. It has great new techniques and products as well as submissions from other Canadians. Every month on their website: http://www.canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/ you can play along and upload your take on their sketch.

This was February's sketch:
