Vacation Craziness and a couple of layouts (293&294)

This summer has gone by so incredibly fast that I can barely keep up. I am currently on part 2 of 2 summer vacation. The first part we drove to Calgary to attend my cousin's wedding reception (she got married in St. Lucia back in May) then we figured since family was coming for the wedding that we would extend the party by having a family camping trip at Sylvan Lake AB. The trip was great, unfortunately we did not have internet access (or tv) so for a week we had no idea what was going on. We left for Calgary July 19th and came back home July 27 at 1230am (so technically July 28th).

All day on the 28th I emptied the car, did laundry, tidied the house and then repacked since my son and I flew home to Vancouver Island the afternoon of the 29th. Since I have been on the island I haven't had a moment to rest since I have been on the go. But since I have had some time to breathe today figured i would share a couple of layouts I finished before I left but didn't have time to post.

hope you have a great day. Although I am not able to scrap while on holidays I do have some project I completed before I went on holidays and will share them tomorrow. I have also been shopping and got some AMAZING deals I will share as well, until then, have a great day :)

My Creative Sketches July Sketch - layout 292

Another shout-out to the Everyday Scrapbooker (seriously I do not know how I survived without her. . .well I do I had a bunch more time on my hands, but she introduces me to all these amazing companies-blogs and I cannot say no to a fabulous sketch). This is July sketch from My Creative Sketches:

Here is my take. Now before you all go crazy because I am doing a Christmas layout in July, let me explain why. I make about 90% of our Christmas presents and in order to get them all done I start in July (usually earlier) so when I saw this sketch the first thing I saw was holly and snowflakes so I ran with it and this is what I came up with:

Supplies used:
Paper: recollection (bright christmas paper pad) & DCWV (the winter holiday stack)
flowers: recollection (unknown) & unknown
embellies: gems (unknown), snowflakes & flourish (k&company christmas die-cut cardstock & acetate), bird (k&company mod holiday  die-cut cardstock)
alphas: unknown

DCWV July stack-a-holic challenge (scrapbook & card) - layout 291

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE Die Cut with a View (DCWV). This month I was inspired by both their scrapbook sketch and card sketch that I did both :)

Here is the scrapbook sketch:

And my take using the Haberdash Stack:

I usually do not scrapbook myself (really because I do not like having my picture taken) but as soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use these embellies and these pictures fit the embellies perfect.

Here is the card sketch:

Here is my take, I used the baby boy stack:

Flourish with a Bling July 2013 Picture Challenge - layout 290

Another shout-out to the Everyday Scrapbooker for introducing me to Amy Prior who introduced me to a wonderful company out of Australia Flourish with a Bling. They have amazing products that have such bright and vibrant colours!!!!!! I was even more over the moon when my local scrapbook store Scrapbook Lounge in Cold Lake Alberta http://www.scrapbooklounge.ca/ also on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ScrapbookLounge started carrying Flourish with a Bling. I was so excited I went the very next day to pick up my favorites :)

Here is my take on it:

I used the Jasmin purple laser flourish :)

2nd Summer Wedding Album - layouts 268-285

We were pleasantly surprised with some friends of ours announced their engagement this past May and that they would be getting married at their annual party mid August. Their colours are gold, silver and black:

I loved the way this album turned out and cannot wait to give it to them :)

Summer of Babies - Layouts 208-267

It must have been a crazy long winter because I have so many family and friends who are expecting this year. This summer I have 5 pregnant wonderful women in my life and I am blessed to be home on or near their due dates so I will be able to meet them. About a year and a half ago I started making pre-made scrapbooks for my friends and family for a baby present and it was so well received and appreciated that I continued doing it. Here are two of the three baby books I have made already this summer (I forgot to photograph one album and it is already wrapped and packed away so unable to post pictures). I make the albums so they match the decor-theme of their nursery.

This is for one of my best friends (we have been friends since high school) who is due mid August and is having her first girl (she has two boys already). I am super excited because I am due to be home during her due date and really hoping I am there for the birth. This album is based on Happi Owl by Dena Designs as that is the pattern of the nursery bedding (layouts 208-227):

The 2nd baby scrapbook I did this summer is for a friend of mine who had a boy and I will be delivering this scrapbook this weekend when I see her and meet him this weekend. Her theme is Noahs Ark, I used a variety of animal print papers and paired it with two animals on each spread (layout 228-247):

The third baby album I did was for a girlfriend who is expecting her 2nd child (a boy) July 29th (the day I fly home). She does not necessarily have a theme because she recently moved into her new house (finally finished being built) but she was going to stick with the green and blue theme). Again do not have pictures because I forgot to take them before I wrapped it and it is already packed up (layouts 248-267)

Canadian Scrapbooker July 2013 Sketchy Challenge (layout 206)

Here is another fabulous sketch by Sue Sykes:
July 2013 Sketchy Challenge

Here is my take:

I tried a couple of new techniques with this layout:
1) weaving two of the exact same photos together (I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out)
2) I doodled around the photo. . .I know it's a little hard to believe that I have been scrapbooking for about 8 years and have never doodled on a layout but it's true

Supplies used:
Paper: Pebbles - Family Ties collection
Ribbon: Maya Road
Letters: Thickers - Serenade Puffy Stickers
Inks: Distress Stain - peeled paint & Distress Ink - evergreen bough
Unknown: brads, flowers, gem

Thank you for stopping by, hope you play along at: http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/showphoto.php?photo=597&title=july-2013-sketchy-challenge&cat=523
