some more christmas cards - LCOM Sketch 47

here is another beautiful Let's Capture Our Memories sketch, this time by the very talented Kimberly Figures:

Since I was still needing to finish off my Christmas cards, I used the sketch as a card and created two cards (one horizontally, one vertically):

For both cards I used Recollection paper, K&Company die-cuts, and unknown sticker sentiment. Thank you for stopping by, hope you play along: http://letscaptureourmemories.blogspot.ca/2013/11/lcom-sketch-47-reveal.html

Fall - LCOM Sketch #46 (layout 398)

Supplies:
Paper: American Crafts Cardstock (brights), DCWV (heartfelt stack), Recollections (seasons stack), Momenta
Little Yellow Bicycle (feels like home journalling cards)
simple stories take a hike bingo card
ink: distress ink (spiced marmalade & frayed burlap)

At the Park - A2Z Scraplets November Recipe Challenge (layout 397)

I got a bunch of new A2Z Scraplets in the mail this week from winning the October challenge so I was very excited to start playing with them so worked all morning to get this finished for this month's recipe challenge.

A surprise hair flower clip holder

A couple of weeks ago at play group, one of the other moms wanted to know where she could go to order a hair clip holder, we told her about the places that make them but they were already booked up for Christmas, that idea wouldn't work. We tried explaining how to make one but she said she didn't have a creative bone in her body so I went home and made one for her. Unfortunately because my son has been sick, i have been unable to go to play group and give it to her, but hopefully will see her soon and give it to her :)

Mixed Media Canvas "Love this moment"

I took a course at my local scrapbook store (Scrapbook Lounge, Cold Lake) this week and created this beautiful mixed media canvas using Lindy products (love it). I was actually going to make this for my mom (using a different picture) but when my mom found out that I was going to a course she wanted to know all about it and then of course wanted to see what I made so instead of making one for my mom, I made it for my grandma :)

A couple of weeks ago, Simple Sketches put a call out for guest designers and I literally jumped at the opportunity to apply (never thinking that I would actually get picked). Much to my surprise, I received an email inviting me to participate as a guest designer. I was so excited that I got started right away. This is the sketch I was given:

More Christmas gifts - paper quilts

I started making paper quilts a couple of years ago when I came across a pattern and made one for my parents living room (they had just finished renovating their living room and could not find an accent piece for their wall so mom asked me to make one for her and she proudly displays it above her fireplace).

Last year I made a whole bunch of paper quilts for Christmas gifts for my friends. When my family found out that my friends had received them they all put in requests for their paper quilt. I told them that they had to wait and "perhaps" they would get one for Christmas next year (wink wink).

This one is made with Me and My big ideas specialty cardstock I got last December. The sparkle is from Martha Stewart essentials paper pad (neutrals):

These two used DCWV First Noel stack and the martha stewart neutral stack:

thanks for stopping by :)

Christmas Gift making has begun - Advent Calendar

My sister-in-law loves opening presents so i thought what would be better than an advent calendar that I fill with her favorite things??

I used Karen Foster's Advent Calendar and covered it with Me & My Big Ideas specialty cardstock.

I finished it off by adding some recollection tree embellishments and some dollar store bling. This was so fun to make and I am very happy with the end result. I have started filling it and am still searching for more goodies and then I can officially call this project finished :)

Couple of more layouts to share (layout 380-383)

Outgrown my playpen - CS Sketch 255 & WW1 (layout 379)

Another shout out to The Everyday Scrapbooker who introduced me to Creative Scrappers. I have been following them for a couple of months but this is my first go at one of their sketches. It is sketch 255 and this is the sketch:

Creative scrappers had a twist with this sketch which was to match it with White. . .with1 (blueberry). For those who are not familiar with WW1, they are fabulous to challenge you to use white with only 1 other colour. I am actually a huge fan of WW1 because one of my favorite techniques to use when scrapbooking is using monochrome so I definitely took this as a challenge and this is what I came up with:

To create this layout I used some home-made modeling paste over The Crafter's Workshop Kasbah template and then sprayed tattered angels glimmer mist in sapphire over it. I then layered co-ordinating blueberry shades of paper with a matted photo. I used the glimmer mist (sapphire) on the thickers diy but did two coats to make it a bit deeper.

Supplies used:
Paper: american craft cardstock, pink paislee, unknown
washi tape: unknown dollar store
alphas: thickers
ink: tattered angels (sapphire)
embellies: bo bunny blast off brads, jolee (layered metal), unknown buttons, unknown bling
template: TCW (kasbah)

thank you for stopping by :)

hope you have a great day!!!!

Home for the Holidays - November's DCWV stack-a-holic challenge (layout 378)

When I saw this month's sketch inspiration for DCWV's stack-a-holic challenge I immediately thought of Christmas because of the long strips in the back reminded me Christmas presents so I got out my Winter Holiday Stack and got to work. Here is this month's inspiration:

Here is my take:

I just love the way this came out!!!!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV winter holiday stack & printed christmas matstack
ink: distress ink (evergreen bough)
ribbon: maya road & harmonie
stickers: recollections & jolee's boutique

thank you for stopping by, hope you also play along this month: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.ca/2013/11/november-stack-holic-challenge.html

I have been busy - - hair flowers !!!!

so I have been busy the last couple of weeks hence why i have been away but I am back and have a bunch of updates. A while back I made a bunch of hair flowers for my niece:

My friend Rachel loved them so much that I made her some halloween ones:

I got so much positive feedback from Rachel's halloween flowers and Sadie (my niece's flowers) that my girlfriends requested some for their girls. So I made Christmas ones for Erin and Adrian's little ones as well as some Christmas ones for Rachel:
